As a former soccer player and Univeristy of Delaware Coxswain, Sarah turned to running as a way to stay active. Sarah is a long distance runner whose favorite distance is the marathon. In 2010, she ran her first Boston Marathon and, three weeks later, was the third female finisher in the Pocono Run for the Red Marathon. This past summer, Sarah focused on getting faster in shorter distance racing and placed as the overall female winner in many local 5ks. Currently, Sarah is training to break her marathon PR of 3:03.

Andrea started out as a trained dancer — which she continues to do today. She had a running career in high school track and didn't pick it back up until 2003. It didn't take long to get into it; since 2004 she's completed 9 marathons, including two Bostons! She places in her age group frequently in shorter distance races. Andrea also enjoys triathlon, and has competed in about a dozen since 2007. She’ll be racing her 3rd half-iron man this fall. Andrea is a member of the Pike Creek Valley Run Club (PCVRC) and the Deep Blue Triathlon Team, in addition to the New Balance Delaware Racing Team.
The lifestyle and passion for the sport has been contagious; she shares so much with friends and other runners. It's so important to squeeze training between being a single mom to twin daughters and full time Human Resources professional. She's proud of her active lifestyle and making a great impression on her daughters.

Jen started running in high school on the varsity track team as a sprinter. She always ran as a way to stay in shape after high school, but never ran competitively until after meeting (now husband and fast runner!) Joshua Loren. Jen quickly realized if she wanted to keep up with Josh, she needed to start running more!
After having their daughter Isabella in May 2012, Jen's goal was to run her first half marathon. Since then she has been hooked on running competitively and increasing her mileage. Jen enjoys running with Josh and her daughter Isabella as a way for all of them to enjoy an active lifestyle. Working for Nemours Health and Prevention Services as a Registered Dietitian, Jen enjoys educating kids and families, not only about nutrition, but also staying physically active as a part of a healthy lifestyle. Jen is honored to be a part of the New Balance Racing Team!

Josh Loren has been running since early grade school when he won his first one-mile race in 3rd grade on the playground at school. This was the first of many wins for Josh and who would’ve known back then that he would make a career of training and running. Josh became a dedicated runner since the end of 6th grade when he was asked to drop sitting on the sidelines at the soccer field and join the Cross Country Team, where he found his niche, immediately excelled and was running with the “big boys”. He further advanced throughout his high school years, winning many titles and holding various school records and earning nine State medals in Cross Country and Track in the State of Pennsylvania. While attending Penn State University, Josh also participated on the Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track teams and he learned what it was like to really pack on some weekly miles and even had a few stress fractures to prove it! After college, Josh’s job brought him to Delaware where he has “run the gamut” in local races (i.e. being "one of the guys to beat" in many of the trail races and road races and winning the USATF trail series) as well as winning the 2010 Catalina Marathon, known as the nation’s toughest off-road marathon and participating in his first Ironman in Lake Placid, New York.

Kirsten began running as a freshman at Padua Academy. She was a member of the Cross Country, Winter Track, and Spring Track Teams for all four years. During those four years, Padua won many State Championships while coached by Rodney Lambert. Kirsten’s senior year was her most successful. She was Delaware State Champion in the 4 X 800m Relay, 800m, 1600m, and 3200m, which were all run in the same day. She was also named Delaware’s High School Runner of the Year.
After graduating from Padua Academy, Kirsten earned an athletic scholarship to Seton Hall University (Division I). She was a member of SHU’s Cross Country, Winter Track, and Spring Track teams. Seton Hall’s track team won several Big East Conference Championships and ECAC Championships while Kirsten was on the team. She was a member of the 4 X 800m Big East Championship Relay, where she ran a 2:06 anchor leg. Kirsten was also the 800 leg of Seton Hall’s very successful Sprint Medley Team.
Kirsten took a short break from running after graduating from college. She realized that she missed running and began to train for local 5k’s. She has been running ever since, with the exception of a few breaks due to injury or pregnancy. Kirsten has won many road races throughout her years of running, where she earned her 5k personal record of 17:38. Kirsten has competed in several half marathons and three full marathons, 2 of which were Boston Marathons.
While working for MBNA, Kirsten earned her Masters in Elementary Education from Wilmington College. Then, she taught 2nd and 4th grades in Pennsville, NJ. Currently, Kirsten is a stay at home mom for her two sons ages 6 and 4. They love to go to races and cheer for their mom.

Since having her twin boys in March 2012, Kelly Horowitz is thrilled to once again be a member of the New Balance Delaware Racing Team. Kelly began running in her 20's as a casual avenue to stay in shape. She enjoyed local 5 and 10k's, and the social aspect of the running community. As her mileage increased, marathoning became her passion. With a time of 3:00.17, she became the Delaware State Record Holder for the marathon in the woman's 30-35 age group. Following that, she went on to become the overall female winner of both the Rehoboth and Vermont marathon.
Kelly enjoys teaching third grade as she passes her energy onto her students. She coaches Girls on the Run for the students in her school. Here she is able to spend 10 weeks training girls from grades three to five towards completing a 5k race. Along with the physical training required, the girls are also introduced to positive life skills. Kelly looks forward to a strong 2012-2013 year where she can continue to meet her running goals and promote the positive and healthy message that running has to offer all people.

Mike started running while in junior high school, and continued running in high school cross country and track in Pennsylvania. He swam and dove for the Lehigh University varsity swim team before taking running back up in 1996. Triathlons have always fascinated Mike, and he started competing in local triathlons in 2001. Mike has completed 5 marathons, a half-ironman, as well as numerous half marathons over the years. After coming off two successive years of knee surgeries, Mike hopes to return to form in the 5k in 2013, and perhaps take on a marathon in the fall.

Betty started running in her 40's but does not have time records from that period. After the death of her spouse, she reduced the amount of her physical activity, but resumed an interest in running about 4 years ago through the Couch Potato to 5k Program offered through Girls on the Run.
Now retired, Betty makes her home in North Wilmington with current husband Van and dog Gracie. She comes from a large family that encouraged and supported volunteer activities. Betty has been active in supporting charitable organizations thought walking/running fund raising groups such as the Leukemia/Lymphoma Team in Training, Breast Cancer 3-Day, Girls on the Run, Frank's Wine Team, The First Tee, and Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition. She was on the committee that planned the 50th Anniversary Caesar Rodney.
Through running, Betty has found a great way to fulfill her mission, "have some fun and do some good", since so many race events provide ways to support local charities. She has met many new friends with sparkling, vibrant personalities that have enriched her life, and wishes others the same positive experiences she has had as a result of running.
In 2012, Betty completed more than 50 race events, including the Marine Corps Marathon, 7 half marathons, 2 triathlons, and a duathlon.

I have been a runner since 1984 and a member of New Balance Running club for one year. Recent knee surgery in May 2011 has put me on the shelf for most of last year. However, I am getting better and ready to roll in 2012. As a Delaware Masters Runner, I have been competing since 1985 and have finished in the top times many times. In 2011, I have finished in the top 3 each event. Superbowl run in January shows a top age group finish, Kelly Logan House 5K shows a 2nd in age group. Knee surgery in May kept me out of racing until August which brought a 3rd place finish in age group. The winning continued in September with a 1st in the Cindy Foundation 5K. Finally a 3rd place finish in the Reindeer Run with 1074 finishers. This season looks promising with my knee feeling stronger. I also participate cycling and coaching in the area. Looking to do more triathlons in 2012 which will provide a bit more cross training and protecting my knee.
